US lawmakers ask FBI to investigate NSA surveillance of tech companies in ‘incredible’ breach
US lawmakers on Wednesday demanded that the Federal Bureau of Investigation investigate the National Security Agency’s surveillance of Silicon Valley companies, amid a report that one of the largest technology companies in the US has been caught spying on American citizens.
“The US government must investigate NSA’s spying activities against our citizens,” House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Rep. Darrell Issa, a California Republican, said in a statement.
“We must also know how and why these surveillance activities occurred.
These activities have undermined our national security and jeopardized American lives.”
The Senate Intelligence Committee is also investigating the NSA’s surveillance programs.
